Calling it ski-in is fair for a first-timer and misleading for everyone else, because the Grandvalira network starts at the nearest lift, about five minutes away on the hotel's free shuttle. I would book it for families whose children are learning, and for couples who care about Restaurante Bruna and Serras Spa after skiing. Confident skiers who want to clip in and ride straight onto the red runs above Soldeu should sleep in the village beside the gondola.
