Our take
Hotel Post in Bad Gastein is an adults-only, pet-friendly hotel that I would suggest to couples and solo travellers who want a calm stay with a strong spa. The spa has a sauna, a steam room, a hot tub and a fitness centre, and ski storage is available. Rooms look onto the mountains or the town. It is a short walk to the railway station and the waterfall. It is not the place for a family trip.
- Book a mountain-view room for the best vistas of the surrounding peaks.
- Make sure to use the spa facilities after a day of skiing; the hot tub is a perfect way to relax.
- Take a short walk to the Bad Gastein Waterfall, it's a beautiful sight and easily accessible from the hotel.

Why guests love itWe came as a couple and loved that Hotel Post is adults-only, so evenings stayed calm. After skiing we went straight to the spa: sauna, steam room and hot tub, then a quiet hour in the fitness room the next morning. Our room had mountain views, the ski storage saved us hauling gear upstairs, and the railway station and the waterfall are both a short walk away, which made arriving by train easy.
