Our take

I would pick Hotel les Sapins for skiing back to the door in La Clusaz, with balconies looking out over the Aravis mountains. The wellness centre has a hot tub and a hammam, enough for tired legs after a day on the slopes. The restaurant opens in winter, which covers dinners during the ski season, and parking spaces and free WiFi are provided. The 8.6 rating from 542 reviews is solid. Rooms are en-suite and simple rather than luxurious.

  • Take full advantage of the ski-to-door access for effortless mornings and evenings on the slopes.
  • Book a session at the hot tub or hammam to soothe tired muscles after a day of skiing.
  • Enjoy the traditional cuisine at the hotel's restaurant during the winter season for a convenient meal.

Why guests love it

Skiing straight back to the door was a huge plus with the kids, and our balcony looked out over the Aravis mountains. The en-suite room was comfortable, and free WiFi plus a parking space made the practical side easy. After skiing we warmed up in the hot tub and hammam in the wellness centre, and the winter restaurant meant we could eat well without heading back out into the cold with tired children.
