Hotel Kiendl sits in the Alpine mountains around Merano with the Merano 2000 cableway a five-minute walk from the door, about as close to ski-in convenience as Schenna offers. Rooms are spacious with oak floors, wooden furniture, satellite TV and a balcony, and an extra-large double bed comes with soft bathrobes and slippers. The wellness centre holds an indoor pool and sauna for the evenings, and the restaurant grows its own vegetables for a mix of local South Tyrolean and international dishes, including a homemade apple juice at breakfast. Half-board guests get a five-course dinner, and buses to Merano's train station stop seventy metres from the hotel, with a shuttle to the town centre bookable at reception.
