Our take
This suits travellers who want a historic, walkable base with a real wellness floor rather than a modern block on the edge of town. The half-board menu is worth taking if staying more than a couple of nights, it is a proper sit-down dinner. Anyone wanting a five-star spa with an indoor pool should look at the resort-scale properties instead, this stays boutique in scale.

Why guests love itStaying right opposite the bell tower on Corso Italia put the whole of Cortina on our doorstep, and the hotel's history since 1870 shows in its warm wood-floored rooms. The Faloria cable car is only 300 metres away, with the ski bus close by for the other areas. We took half board and the four-course dinners were a highlight, while the Finnish sauna and Turkish bath made a perfect stop before eating. Free parking was a bonus.
