About this hotel

The Aspen Square Condominium Hotel places you right at the heart of Aspen's ski action, with the Silver Queen Gondola just a minute's walk from your door. These aren't just rooms; they are spacious luxury apartments, each designed for comfort and convenience. Imagine returning from the slopes to a fully-equipped kitchen to prepare a meal, or stepping out onto your private balcony to take in the mountain air. The wood-burning fireplace in each apartment adds a touch of alpine romance, perfect for unwinding after a day on Aspen Mountain. Beyond your private space, the hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool and two hot tubs for relaxation, a modern fitness center, and essential ski storage to keep your gear secure and ready for the next day.

  • Directly across from the Silver Queen Gondola
  • Full kitchen and private balcony in every unit
  • Wood-burning fireplaces in the larger condos
  • Heated outdoor pool and two hot tubs
  • Daily housekeeping and free guest parking

Our take

Aspen Square sits at 617 East Cooper Avenue, directly across from the Silver Queen Gondola, so you walk from the lobby to the main lift of Aspen Mountain in a couple of minutes. Every unit, from the 46 m² fireplace studio to the 158 m² three-bedroom condo, has a full kitchen and a private balcony, and the larger ones burn real wood. The heated outdoor pool and two hot tubs do the après. Daily housekeeping is the detail that sets it apart from most Aspen condos. There is no restaurant or bar on site, and units are privately owned, so décor varies: I would still pick it for skiers who want the gondola and the downtown streets at the door.

  • Aspen Mountain is intermediate-to-expert terrain, not a first-timer's hill: if anyone in the group is learning, ride the free skier shuttle to Buttermilk and keep the gondola for the stronger skiers.
  • The free skier shuttles also reach Aspen Highlands and Snowmass, so one pass and no car cover all four mountains from this address.
  • Ask for a two- or three-bedroom condo if a wood-burning fireplace matters; the studios and one-bedrooms have a fireplace in the lounge too, but the larger units burn wood.
  • Free guest parking is included, a real asset in downtown Aspen; drive in, then leave the car for the whole stay.

Why we love it

  • A minute's walk to the Silver Queen Gondola
  • Spacious luxury apartments with private balconies
  • Cozy wood-burning fireplaces in every unit
  • Outdoor pool and two hot tubs for relaxation
Why guests love it

A full kitchen and a balcony in every unit, two-bedroom condos of about 93 m² that sleep six, and a gondola across the street make Aspen Square practical for families who ski Aspen Mountain. The heated outdoor pool and two hot tubs fill the late afternoon, though children under 13 need an adult with them in the pool, gym and hot tubs. Babysitting can be arranged through the property. The catch for young beginners: the gondola goes up a mountain built for intermediates and experts, so lessons mean a shuttle to Buttermilk each morning. With confident skiers aged ten and up, I would book it without hesitation; with toddlers in ski school, a base at Buttermilk or Snowmass saves a daily transfer.
