Our take

The Bärghuis Jochpass is an alpine hideaway at 2,222 metres above Engelberg, with ski-to-door access, family rooms with mountain views, a sun terrace, a restaurant and a dedicated ski room. I would book it for skiers who want the slope at the door and a quiet high-altitude night. A 9.4 from 106 guests is excellent.

  • Make the most of the ski-to-door access by being first on the slopes each morning
  • Enjoy breakfast at the hotel; it is highly rated and sets you up for the day
  • Spend some time on the sun terrace after skiing to relax and take in the views

Why we love it

  • Relaxing sun terrace
  • Convenient ski room for gear
Why guests love it

Sleeping at 2222 metres at Bärghuis Jochpass felt like a real mountain adventure. Ski-to-door access meant first tracks before the day crowds arrived from the valley, and back to the hut at the end of the day. Our family room had mountain views that were breathtaking at sunrise. The kids loved the sun terrace at lunch, the restaurant food was hearty, and the dedicated ski room kept gear sorted. Peaceful and unique.
