Our take
Daria-I Nor stands 50 m from the Alpe Express, the ten-seat Poma gondola opened in 2018 that runs 868 m from Place Paganon through L'Éclose to the Bergers slopes in about five minutes. So the direct ski access here is a gondola ride, not a piste to the door, and I would book it knowing that. What earns the five stars is the 800 m² spa: a heated indoor pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room, with Valmont and Phytomer treatments. At 9.3 from 146 reviews, it scores highest of the 18 Alpe d'Huez hotels on this site. I would pick it for couples and families who will use the spa every afternoon; skiers who want to click in on the doorstep should sleep on the Bergers snow front.
- Ride the Alpe Express towards Les Bergers in the morning: the gondola climbs only 28 m over its 868 m, so it beats crossing the resort in ski boots.
- The hotel and the Résidence Daria-I Nor by Les Etincelles share a name but are two separate properties: check which one your booking names before you arrive.
- Downhill and cross-country ski hire is arranged at the hotel and there is a boot dryer, so your gear stays here rather than in a shop at Les Bergers.
- The hotel opens for winter from 11 December 2026 to 11 April 2027, which puts the Easter weekend of 28 March 2027 inside its season.
Why we love it
- Direct ski-to-door access
- Luxurious indoor pool and hammam
- Proximity to ski lift
- Comprehensive fitness center
Why guests love itDaria-I Nor makes its family case with facilities it actually lists: 5 family rooms and 5 communicating rooms among its 46, cots and high chairs, children's menus, a playroom, a babysitting service and a restaurant for children. The heated indoor pool fills the hour after the lifts close, when the light goes and the cold arrives fast. The catch for small children is the commute: every ski morning starts with the Alpe Express rather than a slope from the door, so a lesson at Les Bergers means boots, skis and a gondola ride with a child in tow. I would choose it for families whose children are past the snow-garden age and will use the pool; with a three-year-old on skis for the first time, I would sleep on the Bergers snow front instead.
