Our take

Hôtel Marchal is a family-friendly three-star in Le Hohwald, a village in the Vosges, with rooms looking onto the garden or the mountains. Its restaurant serves French and Italian cooking, and there is a bar, a coffee shop, a garden terrace, free WiFi and private parking. Nothing in the listing points to ski facilities on site, so I see it as a quiet mountain base for families travelling by car. Rated 8.8 from 347 reviews.

  • Try the local specialties at breakfast for an authentic taste of the region
  • Enjoy a drink at the bar or coffee shop in the evening
  • Take a moment to relax in the garden or on the terrace, especially with mountain views

Why guests love it

Hôtel Marchal in Le Hohwald is a family-friendly hotel, and our room looked out over the garden and the Vosges mountains. The restaurant served both French and Italian dishes, which was a winner with our kids, who could choose pasta or a proper Alsatian meal. We enjoyed coffee at the coffee shop and a drink at the bar, and the garden terrace was lovely in the sun. Free WiFi and parking made it easy.
