Why guests love itGrandhotel Giessbach dates from 1874 and sits secluded on a hill above Lake Brienz, and arriving on Europe's oldest funicular was a thrill for the whole family. Our room had real 19th-century charm and a view over the lake and the Giessbach Waterfall that we could not stop looking at. We alternated between the two restaurants, and in the warmer season the outdoor pool is a lovely bonus. A one-of-a-kind historic stay.
