Luxury Ski Hotels in Park City, Utah

For a luxury ski stay in Park City, I would choose between two addresses with opposite characters: Pendry Park City, a 153-room hotel opened in 2022 in Canyons Village with the Sunrise lift at the door and a heated rooftop pool, and Main & SKY, 33 suites at the bottom of Main Street, a few steps from the Town Lift. The first suits skiers who want to clip in after breakfast and stay on the mountain; the second suits couples who want Park City Mountain by day and Main Street's restaurants on foot at night. Both are five-star on our list, with guest scores of 8.7 and 8.8. Deer Valley's hotels are a separate choice, because that mountain still bans snowboards.

Park City is a former silver-mining town whose Main Street still has its historic storefronts, wrapped around two big ski areas: Park City Mountain, linked to Canyons by the Quicksilver Gondola, and Deer Valley, skiers only. Its high-end hotels are recent and spread out, so the base you choose matters more than the brand on the door.

Where to stay

…

Which base, Canyons Village or Main Street

Park City luxury is less about palaces than about location: Park City Mountain, joined to Canyons by the Quicksilver Gondola since 2015, covers about 7,300 acres, and the right lift outside your door shapes the whole stay. Deer Valley, next door, remains skiers-only.

Pendry Park City, at 2417 High Mountain Road, opened in 2022 with 153 rooms and sits in Canyons Village, the base on the west side of Park City Mountain. The Sunrise lift is right by the building, and the Red Pine Gondola and Orange Bubble Express, the heated-bubble chairlift, are a short walk away. Its Pool House on the roof has a heated pool and hot tub open all year, which reviewers call the hotel's social hub. The defect, also from recent reviews: valet and service fees add up quickly, and the rooftop gets busy on weekends.

Main & SKY, at 201 Heber Avenue where it meets Main Street, is the reverse choice: 33 suites and penthouses, most with an outdoor deck and a private hot tub on the patio. The Town Lift is a few steps away, and the hotel describes ski access to Park City Mountain through the Town Lift and the Ski Bridge. Its Sugati Spa and a heated lap pool sit on the lower floors, with a cocktail lounge on the top floor. I would book it for a couple who want Main Street at night more than first chair at Canyons.

A third five-star address on our list plays differently: Condos at Canyons Resort by White Pines, rated 8.8 over 509 reviews, gives apartment space in Canyons Village rather than hotel service. For a hotel at Deer Valley, The Chateaux Deer Valley, rated 9.3 by guests, is ski-in/ski-out at Silver Lake, mid-mountain, with ski rental in the building. Remember the Deer Valley rule before booking there: snowboards are not allowed, a policy in place since the resort opened in the early 1980s, so a mixed group of skiers and riders belongs on the Park City Mountain side.

One label needs correcting. Sweetwater Lift Lodge appears among Park City's luxury picks, but it is a three-star, condo-style lodge near the Mountain Village base, with good guest scores (8.5 over 880 reviews) and none of the service of Pendry or Main & SKY. It is a strong base for skiing close to the Payday Express, not a luxury hotel. For a true high-end stay in Park City, I would stick to the two five-star hotels above, and to The Chateaux if the whole group skis and nobody rides a snowboard.

A traveler's perspective

For a ski week where the snow comes first, I would book Pendry Park City: the Sunrise lift is at the door, and the heated rooftop pool after the last run is the best après-ski spot in Canyons Village. For a long weekend built around restaurants and a spa, I would take Main & SKY, where a suite with its own hot tub and the Town Lift a few steps away make the car useless. I would not book either for Deer Valley's terrain: there, The Chateaux at Silver Lake puts you on the snow, as long as nobody in the group snowboards.

4.4

Alpine luxury, mountain views, hot tub, and ski storage

Why guests love it

Main & SKY was our splurge and it felt like proper alpine luxury. Private check-in and check-out made arriving with tired kids painless, and the family room with kitchenette let us keep breakfast simple. Evenings were spent in the hot tub with mountain views or around the outdoor fireplace with hot chocolate. Ski storage kept gear out of the room, and the Park City Museum is a short walk, good for a snowy afternoon.

Ski-to-door luxury with rooftop pool and mountain views

Why guests love it

Pendry Park City was a treat from start to finish. Ski-to-door access meant the kids were back inside in minutes, and the rooftop pool with mountain views was their favourite part of the day. Our room had a kitchenette and a private patio, handy for quick breakfasts and fresh air. We took turns in the spa, the service was first-rate and patient with our little ones, and dinners on site were excellent.

Luxury suites, indoor pool, and a short walk to Park City Mountain

Why guests love it

Sweetwater Lift Lodge gave us a spacious suite with a full kitchen and a fireplace, which felt luxurious for a family of five. Park City Mountain Resort is a five-minute walk, so even our youngest managed it in ski boots. The large indoor pool was the after-ski highlight, the game room filled the gaps before dinner, and we parents enjoyed the spa. Ski storage kept the suite clear of gear.

Local tips

  1. 1At Pendry, ask which side of the building your room faces: the hotel sits right by the Sunrise lift in Canyons Village, and the slope-side rooms give you the morning view of the lifts.
  2. 2At Main & SKY, the Town Lift is a few steps from the door; the hotel's ski route to Park City Mountain uses the Town Lift and the Ski Bridge, so check the lift's daily status before planning a ski-out.
  3. 3Plan the rooftop pool at Pendry for a weekday evening: recent reviews say it fills up on weekends, while it stays open and heated all year, including after the lifts close.
  4. 4Ask at booking what Pendry's resort fee covers, such as ski valet and shuttle: recent reviews name the valet and service fees as the main irritant of an otherwise strong stay.
  5. 5Use the Quicksilver Gondola, eight-person cabins over about 1.5 miles with a mid-station on Pine Cone Ridge, to ski from the Canyons side to the Mountain Village side and back to Pendry.
  6. 6If someone in your group snowboards, keep the stay on Park City Mountain: Deer Valley is still skiers-only, so luxury there only works for a group of skiers.
